Xbox Live Vision Camera

Do I realy need a webcam? Probably not. But is it handy to have one? Yes.

I've now been using the Xbox Live Vision web camera for about a week or so. And it's working very well. In the package you get (of course) the web cam, a headset, 1 month of Gold membership and UNO (Live Arcade). That's a pretty good deal.

It's very easy to install, just plug in the USB and it works. In the System blade you can change some settings, but Auto is normaly OK. You can change your Personal  Gamer Picture. This is the picture that will be showed to all you friends. You can also apply some effects to that picture as you can see on the picture below.  With the webcam, you can also invite friends and others to a videochat. This can be funny, but also practical if you have family and friends living far from you.

When playing UNO, you can see your opponents, and they can see you. Reports on the internet says that people have seen a lot of things they don't wont to when they play UNO.

The camera have 1.3 mega-pixel and it does video at 640 x 480 @ 30 fps. It's quite good. You can also connect it to your Windows PC and it requires an USB 2.0 port. The package says that it will find the driver automaticly, but it didn't for me. I got it working after som trail and errors. The quality is very good.

If you go to MajorNelson.com, you can download a demonstration of the videochat.

You can get the Live Vision camera from Play-Asia.com.
